Ideas are everywhere. If you can doodle, you can embellish! If you are looking for patterns try stencils or foam cut-outs at your local craft store. Cookie cutters make great stencils too. A customer of ours recommends using quilting books. Simply find the pattern you want, blow it up to the size you need, cut it out and embellish around it. Card making books are another great place to look for inspiration. Many have simple patterns to follow. The important thing with the Flatbacks is to have fun. Anything that sparkles will look great!

Question
How to I prevent E 6000 from being stringy when I apply?

Use a medicine plunger for application. Squeeze the Glue into this plunger and use for current days applications. The tip of E6000 fits nicely into the plunger. Try not to force E6000, it will stream by itself. Close cap quickly and tightly.
This glue put into this plastic plunger can only be used for a short 24hour period, any longer and it is drying out. Empty unused glue, for this is waste.

You are using the wrong product for the job. E6000 is for heavy duty craft projects. If you are working with flatbacks, I suggest using Hypo Cement it comes with an applicator for easy use and less mess.

when you first start using the glue be careful not to squeeze the tube too much as when you open again it tends to force the glue to come streaming out. As well as using the tooth pick, that is exactly what i do and quickly put the cap back on.

I used bejeweler for hot fix crystals. But some of them fell afterwards. What should I do to prevent this?
Can I also use the 'hot spot' tip to secure the already set jewels on dress?

Yes use it on the back of the stone if you can this will get it closer to the glue that has to be re-heated. I like to iron the back of garments after they are finished to ensure that nothing falls off later

It's natural for them to fall out, but so what.. you've enjoyed them for some time, right??
Things fall apart -- even something that is bonded as strongly as your tooth cavity filling. It's a part of life.

I bling most of my clothes. I buy EXTRA because I know they'll fall out. I buy hundreds of many colors of the Hotfix Swarovsky, and I put them on jeans, shorts, t-shirts, and even on my phone !! I wash and dry the clothes like normal. And some that fall out actually look pretty normal, no one else notices them!!
Buy Extra.

A part of the fun is putting them on -- so just refill them later!!

Hotfix was originally made for the garment industry and is not intended for ceramic, glass, leather and water-resistant material such as umbrellas. You can still embellish these surfaces with regular, non-Hotfix rhinestones and an adhesive such as E6000 or Gem Tac glue.

You have to watch when you use Vinyl and Velvet, some of the cheaper velvets will mark and vinyl will melt. Lycra and cotton or polycotton work well and I have stoned on Silk and it works great too. Some of the cheaper metallic fabrics will also mark.

Hot fix rhinestones need to be heated up (either with an iron or a bejeweler) to be applied while flatbacks need to be to glued.

You need to use glue for flatbacks and a Bejewler for the hotfix. Artbeads.com carries glue for both fabrics and non-porous surfaces as well as two different irons for hotfix. Bling away!

I would use something

like Crystal Moonlight or White Opal. Each gives a sparkle without being over powering.

Sometimes when I receive my Swarovski flatbacks, there is a small piece of the backing missing. Will this affect my design?

Absolutely not. The backing on the Swarovski Flatback Rhinestones can sometimes come from the factory with slight imperfections. We tested many of the stones and found that there is no difference in the look of the finished items. The glue will not show through when applied properly.

Crystal flatbacks on leather? I saw somewhere not to use them. Why? Has anyone tried it on leather sandals?

You can use them on leather, however I have found that a sueded leather works the best. I encrusted the suede leather on some birkenstocks with great success. The hotfix was the easiest to do and had the best final appearance. If it is a smooth leather, you may ned to rough up the surface to give the glue something to adhere to. You should always do a test spot in an inconspicuous place to determine if the crystals will hold.

You can sew the Margarita beads into clothing, or you can glue them onto a card like we did in this free design:

http://www.artbeads.com/glitter-flowers-get-well-soon-card.html

You can also use them to make little magnets like we did here with the crystal flatbacks:
