In a recent beading magazine I was reading instructions on stringing a necklace, when finishing off the necklace they used a wire guardian before the crimp bead. I never heard of a wire guardian. What is it? What is the purpose of using one?

A wire guardian or thimble is used to protect your stringing material from fraying when attached to a clasp end. You thread your stringing material through a crimp bead then through the guard/thimble and hook the guard onto the clasp ring, then back through the crimp bead and crimp.

For Belgium it is the first Sunday of the month May. Some cities also celebrate Mother's Day on August 15.
