Depends on the kit. The description should tell you "makes 1 18' necklace" or "makes 3 pairs of earrings" or "makes 2 8" bracelets". When in doubt, assume the kit makes 1 of whatever the kit is featuring.

I think the easiest way would be to trace around the cameo with pen and paper. To find the actual circumference you can use a piece of string or thread to go around either the tracing or the cameo itself and then measure it against a tape measure. You did not mention the shape of the cameo but if there is a beadstore near you, if you go in with either the cameo or the image, they should be able to help you. Similarly, looking around online with the dimensions you have obtained should help.

You may have to cut them apart between each bead with nail scissors. I'd do this over a bracelet or necklace beading board so you can cut them into one of the channels. You may have to poke through the holes to get any remaining string out.
