Question
What does "stabilized" turquoise mean?

From experience natural untreated turquoise will change color when it comes in contact with body oils, hand lotions and other beads. I believe some turquoise can be rather porous and can break easily so stabilizing it gives in strength and prevents color change. I think this is done with a resin or a plastic. It fills in small cracks and makes the stone less porous.

Our Learning Center design team used E6000 glue to embellish a festive margarita glass with Swarovski Flatback crystals for Cinco de Mayo. E6000 is an industrial strength jewelry glue with a strong, flexible hold that dries clear. You can view the design via the following link:

I use 20 ga. half-hard round sterling wire. It holds its shape well, and has enough strength to hammer if you wish.

answer 1
The hole size of the wood beads will vary depending on the size of the bead; there is no real industry standard size. You are welcome to contact our Customer Service department with the product codes of the beads that you are looking at, and we would be glad to measure the hole sizes of the beads for you.

Question
How do I use gimp when stringing beads on wire

answer 1
To use gimp (otherwise known as bullion or French wire), slip your crimp tube onto the jewelry wire after you have completed beading your necklace or bracelet. Cut about a ¼-inch of French wire, and pass your jewelry wire through it. You'll then attach your clasp or jump ring so that the loop on the clasp or ring sits on the French wire. Pass your jewelry wire back through the crimp tube and approximately 2-3 more beads. You will then crimp the crimp tube as usual and trim the excess jewelry wire.

Question
is there a round colored bead about 5mm with an opening large enough for cord

We need a little bit more information in order to give you a more specific answer. What type of cord are you looking to use, and what size? (ie. Size 5 Griffin Silk Cord, 2mm Satin Cord, etc.) Is there a specific bead material you are considering? (ie. Swarovski, sterling silver bead, Czech fire polished glass bead, etc.) Once we get a better idea of the cord you want to work with, we can measure the hole size of the beads and see if they will accommodate the cord. You can contact our Customer Service department via phone or email as well, and we would be happy to assist you further.
